How we check parts
Every part number, size and oil figure on SparkyFits is printed only when two independent sources agree on it.
Sources we use
- The maker's operator's manual. We record its form number.
- The maker's illustrated parts list. This is where part numbers and serial-number changes are settled.
- The engine maker's manual, for oil, spark plug and air filter.
- Parts makers' own catalogs (such as NGK, Champion, Stens and Rotary), for aftermarket equivalents only.
Retailer "fits" lists and owner forums can point us somewhere to look. They are never the source for a value.
When sources disagree
We leave the value off the page until it is settled. A missing value is a gap; a guessed one could sell you the wrong part.
Serial numbers
Some models changed an engine, belt or blade partway through production. When the parts list shows that, the page splits the parts by serial range.
Always check the part number against the plate on your machine or the part you are replacing before you buy.
